BIG OR small?

i was driving down granville street towards richmond the other day when i saw one billboard in front of one of the churches with a title “god is in the details” and in the same moment it came to my mind “small is beautiful.”

i was actually coming back from a meeting with a client where we discussed, among other things, one of the proposals for their new logo. the logo’s text was written in lower case and they wanted to know, “why?” i do not consider myself a minimalist but between abundance of elements on one side and drawing just a few lines on the other, i would always opt for simplicity. i find capital letters and sentence cases over rated simply because the majority of people consider bigger better. by choosing a lower case type face extra attention is directed to that detail and that in itself has value. at the same time the visual flow is much smoother with no ups and downs. it is both elegant and powerful.

small is beautiful!
