I had just switched to a new station and didn’t hear the beginning of the conversation but soon became obvious that an architect was interviewed and they were talking about a certain house that he had built many years ago and it was just on the market at the price that went a hundred fold of it’s original cost. Coming from Europe is not, by any means, an excuse to be ignorant towards local cultural heritage and, I admit, I should have known better, but at that time, at the end of the interview, when the name was mentioned, it didn’t mean anything to me. So, I got intrigued and the first thing that I did when I got to the studio was to go online and to try find out more about Mr. Arthur Erickson, the architect whose house hit the record price. That’s how my obsession with the North American architecture got to its start. Coming from Barcelona and being exposed for such a long time to Gaudi’s master pieces everything that Frank Lloyd Wright did was just as amazing to me and it seemed to me Mr. Erickson was of an equal statue on this side of the border. I did a lot of research and realized that the website that featured his work could be immensely improved, so I started working on a mockup that I would, eventually try to show to Mr. Erickson and offer him my services free of charge. Well, I did manage to prepare the proposal fairly quickly but other projects were lining up and it looked like there was no way to make the initial contact with Mr. Erickson.
